Mattapan Community Health Center Celebrates Opening of New Location

November 6th, 2012

After two years of construction, on September 10, 2012, Mattapan Community Health Center opened its doors at its new location on Blue Hill Ave. Governor Deval Patrick and Mayor Thomas Menino attended the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new facility has twice the capacity of the previous site and will allow the health center to expand the number of patients it can serve from traditionally underserved populations and offer higher quality and more comprehensive health services to residents of Mattapan, Hyde Park, and the surrounding communities.

According to The Boston Globe, Mattapan Square has not had a pharmacy since the 1970s. Mattapan’s new health center has both a CVS and a Citizens Bank office located on site.

To support Mattapan Community Health Center’s facilities improvement project, the Smith Family Foundation has awarded the organization grants totaling $750,000.
