Grant Guidelines

Due to the high volume of requests the Foundation receives in any given year and the number of grants the Foundation is able to make, applications for all grants, except Mid-Sized and Small Capital Grants, are by invitation only. Unsolicited applications will not be accepted.

To Apply for a Mid-Sized Capital Grant

Please review the summary of the Mid-Sized Capital Grants Program and the eligibility criteria to determine whether your organization and capital project align with this funding opportunity. If you believe your work aligns with the Foundation’s funding criteria for a Mid-Sized Capital Grant, please send an email to¬†info@smithfamilyfoundation.net. Please include the following information (500 word maximum): organization name, annual operating budget, target population and geographic area served, a concise description of the organization and a brief description of the project you would like the Foundation to consider, including the total project cost and remaining need. The Foundation will review all such emails, however, due to high volume of inquiries received for a limited number of funding opportunities, staff will only respond if there is interest in learning more.

To Apply for a Small Capital Grant

The next deadline to submit a proposal for the Small Capital Grants program is 5pm ET on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. The online application will be available by early September 2017. Final grant award decisions for the fall 2017 round of applications are expected to be made in January 2018. Please review the summary of the Small Capital Grants Program and the eligibility criteria to determine whether your organization and capital project align with this funding opportunity. If you would like to discuss a potential project or have questions about your organization’s eligibility, please contact Amy Hampe at 857-404-0705 or ahampe@smithfamilyfoundation.net.
